1970 San Francisco Stage Show Connie came to San Francisco in 1970 and performed at the Grand Palace Theater from July 8th to 14th. A teenager at the time, Cindy Law went to Connie’s show seven nights in a row and took the color photographs you see below. The black-and-white photographs were taken by her father’s friend, who was a photographer for one of the local Chinese newspaper. According to Cindy, the entire Chinese-American community, both young and old, welcomed Connie with open arms and hearts and invited her to the Autumn Moon Festival and association picnics. After the show was over, Connie stayed for awhile in a hotel in Chinatown and enrolled at John Adams Adult High School before returning to Hong Kong to make her final film.
